are we there yet…?

About four weeks ago… I started a daily reading plan…

Daily Light on the Daily Path

It has a morning and evening reading… which I have not been faithful to follow consistently… but I’m working my way through each one…

I share it with you now… because the verses they string together… speak…

As I’ve read some days… (sometimes the morning read in the evening and vise versa…) light has been shed…

He has spoken through this plan… so I encourage you to take a look at it… [the link is embedded in the name of the plan above…]

Also… I felt led to share… what He spoke to me this evening… in the verses from Isaiah…

The oracle concerning Dumah.

One is calling to me from Seir, “Watchman, what time of the night? Watchman, what time of the night?”

The watchman says: “Morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire; come back again.”

Isaiah 21:11-12 ESV

Believers are currently dwelling in the night… longing for morning to come…

Therefore… they ask the watchman… What time is it…? much like impatient travelers… Are we there yet…?

We’re on a journey out of the darkness… into the light…

I wonder who the watchman is in these verses… is it Jesus…? the One whose return we await…?

Like us… He doesn’t know the time of His return… He too is waiting… watching…

When He comes… He will bring with Him both morning and night…

For those who believe the Day will dawn… forever it will be light…

But for those who do not know… complete darkness will come… and never leave…

The Watchman encourages those asking to keep asking… Are we there yet…? How much longer…? because these questions mark a stance of hope…

Waiting and watching… these are faith actions fueled by hope…

We don’t wait for what we have given up on…

So the evening light of the Daily Light on the Daily Path Reading Plan… has me considering… the wait… the hope… and the Dawn which is approaching…

For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay…”

Hebrews 10:37 ESV

Are you still asking… What time is it…? Are we there yet…?

Consider why… or why not…
