Faith · Impatient · Silly · Spiritual Growth · Spiritual Maturity

seeking a seven-course faith…

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

Psalm 34:8 NLT

Like a hungry baby… I receive answered prayer with joy… and an impatient desire for more…!

Quick…! Where’s the rest…? I’m not satisfied yet… more… more… hurry God…!

And I feel a bit bratty… as I listen to my thoughts thrown back at God in the wake of the thanks…

Rather than seeing the answer received as His constant faithfulness… in the same breath with… Thank You… comes the question… But what about _________…?

The hungry baby… pounding the highchair… whining for more in between each bite… while the one with the spoon laughs… at such silly impatience… It’s coming… more is coming… silly baby…

The mature… the connoisseurs… of seven-course meals… let the first course… the appetizer… prepare them for more…

They relish each bite… wait joyfully in between… because they know… more is coming…

One course… right after… the next… all the way… to the end… of the meal… each course… in its proper place… and timing…

The mature connoisseurs… patiently… expectantly… wait… to be fully satisfied… by the end of the meal…

Oh…! to have such faith…!

Faith to wait… like the mature… patiently… expectantly… with hope… joy… for each of His promises… to come to pass…

Waiting for each answer to prayer… to arrive at the perfect time…

Until… the glorious… fully satisfying… end…

Seeking a seven-course faith… to replace the ardent… impatient pounding… and frantic panting… of baby food faith…

But you beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Jude 20-21 ESV
