the good news… of revelation…

Still in Mark… seeing and hearing what’s at the beginning of the gospel of Jesus… what makes it good news…

Yesterday… we saw Jesus gather disciples to follow Him and fellowship with…

Today… looking for what follows… read Mark 1:21-34

From the shore of the sea… they entered the city on the coast… Capernaum…

It was the Sabbath…

Jesus went to the synagogue… where He entered… and taught…

His teaching was different than the others who taught there before… He astonished people…

He taught… as one who had authority… not as the scribes…

The others who taught… based their teaching on other teachers’ teaching…

Jesus taught with authority… with spiritual revelation from His heavenly Father… not from the reason and tradition of man…

Jesus’s teaching revealed the unclean spirits dwelling in and among the people…

His teaching revealed and healed the dis-ease of the people…

The healing authenticates His authoritative teaching…

The reason of man… the figuring out for ourselves what Scripture means… does not reveal the troubles of our hearts… does not bring the healing of dis-ease… whether physical… emotional… or spiritual…

As disciples… followers of Jesus… we seek revelation from Him… He is our Teacher…

We know when we’ve received His teaching… His revelation… because it brings healing and peace… we are set free from dis-ease…

In His revealing of truth… in His teaching of the Word… whether the physical healing comes or not… He blesses us with healing of the spirit and heart… blesses us with the peace… contentment… to endure whatever circumstances… good or bad…

…I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

Philippians 4:11-12 ESV (emphasis added)

Paul learned from Jesus… to be content… at peace… free from dis-ease… no matter his state of being…

This is good news… He can teach us too…

It doesn’t mean we come out from others who teach… but it does mean we look for the evidence of His revelation in their teaching… or allow Him to reveal something to us through them…

Jesus taught in church… in a gathering of Believers… with His disciples around Him…

Fellowship… community… is one of the places where Spirit-filled teaching takes place…

The good news of Jesus is the beginning of revelation…

The gospel leads us on a life-long journey toward perfect peace in Him…

One revelation at a time…
