wreck-less…

In worship yesterday… we sang a song I’ve sung before… one familiar to me… but I heard it in a new light…

O, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God

O, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found leaves the ninety-nine

I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away

O, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

–Cory Asbury, Reckless Love chorus

With loved ones in mind… I pray for God to wreck everything in their lives… (mine too…) which keeps them separated from Him…

the lies…

the fears…

the darkness…

the unbelief…

I pray for His reckless… untamed… uncontainable… wild-hearted… love to do its work…

Wreck us… Lord…

Then it dawns… His reckless love… is wreck-less

When He does wreck our lives with His love… it is love which comes into a wrecked life… that doesn’t know it is wrecked…

What feels like wrecking… demolition and undoing… to our flesh… is actually making us less of a wreck… than the world has already made us… than sin has made us…

His reckless love… leads to wreck-less lives… devoid… absent of… the brokenness… dis-ease… distraught… which makes us… blind… deaf… dumb… and lame… limping through life…

Open your eyes… to the wreck you are without Him…

Open your heart… to His reckless love…

Open your soul… so you might be… wreck-less…

Amen…
