Advent · Celebrate · Glorify · Honor

december 24…

It’s Christmas Eve…!

A day to celebrate… or of making preparations to celebrate tomorrow…

I consider the definition of celebrate from yesterday

Celebrations include… sacraments… solemn ceremony… refraining from ordinary business in honor of the one being celebrated… satisfaction in what’s being celebrated as demonstrated through out of the ordinary festivities… deviation from the routine…

To celebrate… is to extol… lift up… glorify… a person… place… event…

In the nativity story… the ones who went to the most elaborate… out of the ordinary way to celebrate the birth of the newborn King… were the wise men… the Magi who came from the east…

Jeremiah's Menu-Celebrate-Extol-Honor.jpg

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:1-2 ESV

They saw the star… packed up… journeyed far… to worship… to honor and extol… the One revealed as the newborn King of the Jews… the King of the people of God Most High…

Their trip took them out of their usual routine… away from their home… to a place they were not sure of…

How are you celebrating the King…? Does it include honor…? deviation from your day-to-day routine…?

Will your celebration this Christmas…? glorify Him…? How…?

In our celebration of His birth… let’s not forget our current Advent…

Waiting for the return of the King of kings… Lord of lords… for the purpose of setting all things right…

In a culture moving far from Him… we who believe have an opportunity to share and encourage… a proper celebration of Him…

Reveal to others what all the hoo-rah-rah is really about…

A King who stooped low… to save the lost… bring light to where it’s dark… restore our honor and glory… through forgiveness… and redemption…

My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!

Psalm 34:2-3 ESV
