go… give…

On the day of starting a six week journey on Give with the sisters at the shop… this comes in the mail…

Making Disciples One Conversation at a Time

I ordered it last week…

Opening to the first chapter… I read…

After Jesus completed the earthly segment of establishing His kingdom, He gathered His friends around Him and laid out the strategy for the next phase. His friends weren’t very mature, spiritually, at the time of this meeting; in fact some of them still doubted. However, in spite of their immaturity Jesus delegated the next phase of the expansion of the Kingdom to them. It was to be a joint venture; in partnership with Jesus’ own Spirit, they were assigned to make disciples of the whole world, following the plan of Kingdom growth Jesus had modeled for them — one disciple at a time, one step at a time. And He gave them a blank check — drawn on all the resources of heaven — to accomplish this next step in the Kingdom’s establishment. There was only one limitation: these resources were for making disciples only.

–D. Michael Henderson, Making Disciples One Conversation at a Time (emphasis mine)

Having thoughts of Give fresh on my heart and mind… it strikes me…

ALL He gives His people… His followers… is to be used… made available to Him… for the making of more disciples…

And what He gives is a blank check…

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places…

Ephesians 1:3 ESV

All is His… and we… as His children… have access to it through Him…

Just one thing… it’s not to be used for ourselves…

It’s given for His glory… and the building of His Kingdom…

We need not fear in the giving to others… because He will certainly take care of those who are His…

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Matthew 6:26 ESV

Not only are we we given whatever is needed for the building of the Kingdom… no experience… and little maturity… is required…

All we are called to do is… Go… give… without fear…

He’ll supply the rest… resources… wisdom… words… discernment… and direction… by His Spirit…

“…Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Jesus

Matthew 28:19-20
