Anger · Grace · Repentance · Sorrow · Stirred Up

stirred up anger…

Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.

Proverbs 22:24-25 NIV

The spirit of anger… it’s contagious…

The day started with stirred up anger… aimed at me…

Immediately engaging in defensive mode… I tried to explain… but it would not be received…

Others could do better… and yes… it’s true…

There was a failure to do what was said… a failure to follow through… a failure for a yes to be yes and a no be no…

I reminded myself I was at fault… no need to get angry in return…

Then what became clear… was they came prepared to fight… armed with evidence… expecting to be challenged…

They were taking names… and ready to extract a pound of flesh for the wrong done…

My spirit thoroughly disheveled by the end of the encounter… took time… and repentance… to calm…

Then I saw it… a lack of grace…

In the revelation… I find myself so grateful… our Savior is not one to exact our flesh for our sin…

We would be doomed… utterly destroyed… if He did…

Instead… in love… He took the loss… offered up His own flesh to pay what we owe…

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

 Isaiah 53:5 ESV

What grace…

I know His anger would be much greater than what I experienced today… just… righteous… in every aspect… perfect judgment… perfect anger…

There is no way I could stand…

Then I wonder… the angry soul… have they experienced grace in their lives…? or is it full of constant judgment… accusation… fighting for what’s right in their eyes…?

Sorrow follows… for what must be missing… to stir up such anger… over what amounted to a miscommunication… unmet expectation… disappointment…

Praying they will experience… receive… grace upon grace…

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

John 1:16 ESV
