Conviction · Faith · Good News · Hearing

the gospel in 100 words…

Convicted by yesterday’s words… my own words written here… regarding the good news of the gospel…

Do I understand it as I should…? and the thought of sharing the good news clearly… concisely… Can I…?

In preparing for an evening Easter gathering… the thought came to mind… Share the gospel in 100 words or less…

It made me uncomfortable… and excuses began to rise… Does it do disservice to reduce the glory of the gospel to just 100 words…? was it possible…?

But the thought would not go…

So… I sat… I wrote… I reduced… and rewrote… until I had 100 words to share with those who ate at our table last night…

Easter Table

God is Love and created us to enjoy His love. We rejected Him, making ourselves His enemies, and bringing death into the world.

Because He loves, He stooped low becoming part of creation. Jesus is His name, the sinless Son of God.

Love held Jesus to the cross, revealing God’s love. He paid the debt for all our sins.

Death could not hold Him — He had no sin of His own. Easter remembers His resurrection.

Those who believe take part in His death and resurrection. The good news of the gospel is life eternal, free from sin, guilt, and fear.

I read these words as an offering before prayer… before our meal celebrating Him…

The words were not delivered with boldness… or with the appropriate amount of joy… and I could hear my voice quake… but I did it…

What about you…? Perhaps you too… can prepare to share the good news of His grace… love… and mercy… in just one hundred words…

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
