Empty · Fill · Jar · Treasure

just a jar…

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

2 Corinthians 4:7 ESV

Just a jar cropped

A clay jar… fragile… empty… that’s how I see myself lately… just a jar…

He fills… I pour out… a conduit for what He calls me to…

As I serve… obey… follow… I feel mostly uninvolved in what I’ve done…

The pot holding the delicious ingredients… does not get praise for the stew… all accolades go to the cook… it’s the same thing being just a jar for Him…

I can truly say… It’s not me

It’s a strange thing being just a jar… something for Him to fill with treasures… not for me… but for others…

I suppose I’m growing to the place where there is less of me… and more of Him… and I see there is freedom in being just a jar…

No need to worry about the outcome of obedience… because it didn’t come from me…

No need to fear if people reject… criticize… belittle… because it’s not about me…

Have you ever done something someone asked you to do…? freely doing it because you weren’t involved… except as proxy…?

That’s how it feels… to be just a jar…

It’s an odd place to be… and no room to boast… because the surpassing power is all Him… not me…

My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.

Psalm 34:2 ESV
